This month of job gains missed predictions. Due to the rise of COVID-19 cases, some cities have issued stay-in-place measures and curfews. These renewed restrictions weighed on the rate of recovery in the labor market. November’s unemployment rate also improved just marginally to 6.7% from the 6.9% reported in October.
712,000 workers filed jobless claims last week, the Department of Labor said Thursday, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take a toll on the labor market. This month there were only 245,000 jobs added, making this the smallest increase since COVID-19.
